Tyler Tipton, who hails from Tampa, Florida, enters his second season with the Leesburg Lightning. In the 2020 summer season, Tipton provided a strong arm for the Lightning, fanning 13 batters over 14.2 innings, while only walking three batters.

Tipton made his presence known in his first season as a member of the Florida Gulf Coast University’s baseball program. Despite not being a strikeout pitcher, Tipton consistently controlled at-bats, allowing just 18 earned runs over 43.2 innings, good for a 3.71 ERA. His four wins were tied for second on the team.

Prior to attending FGCU, Tipton spent two seasons at South Florida State College. He made his mark on that program, especially in his second season. In the truncated 2020 campaign, he held a strong 2.97 ERA over 36.1 innings pitched.
