Tucker Smith is a right-handed pitcher from Fruitland Park, Florida playing in his first season for the Lightning.
A Leesburg High School alumnus, he’s returning home to help his hometown team in their quest for a third FCSL championship.
Smith plays his college ball at Georgia Southwestern State University and has been outstanding in his three seasons there. In 25 starts, Tucker posted an 11-6 record across 163.1 innings while collecting 125 strikeouts and a superb 2.26 ERA. He stood out particularly in 2019, earning the Pitcher of the Year honors in the Peach Belt Conference.
Prior to his time in Georgia, Smith pitched for Rich Billings at Lake Sumter State.
His ability to miss bats and dazzle opposing batters will make him a key arm in the Lightning arsenal.
Smith has signed a pro contract with the Houston Apollos of the American Association of Professional Baseball and will make his pro debut in Gary, Indiana on May 22nd against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
