Jeffrey Mejia is a left-handed hitting outfielder from North Reading, Massachusetts playing in his debut season for the Leesburg Storm.
Mejia kicked off his collegiate baseball career as a member of the UMass Lowell River Hawks. After a freshman season where he appeared in just 14 games, he opted to redshirt the following year in preparation to transfer to a new program.
To stay sharp, Jeffrey joined the Elmira Pioneers of the Perfect Game Collegiate League. There, he put up some fantastic numbers, hitting .331 with a .458 on base percentage, 26 walks and 14 stolen bases.
He then went on to transfer to Northern Essex Community College where his father, Jeff Sr., has coached since 2013. Unfortunately, the Knights were only able to play in two contests before the league cancelled play due to COVID-19.
Jeffrey’s speed and natural keen eye at the plate should be a key part of the Storm lineup this year, before heading up to the University of Maine.
Jeff was added to the Lightning roster for the post season.
