A hard throwing righty from Tampla, FL, Garrett Boeckle returns for his second season with the Lightning. He appeared in nine games in 2020, posting a stellar 1.80 ERA over 10 innings pitched. He did a fantastic job of limiting damage, allowing just one extra base hit and only two earned runs.
Boeckle spent the past season with the Wildcats of Northwestern University. He was a key piece for them, appearing in 11 games and finishing with a 2-2 record. He finished with a solid 4.00 ERA over 18 innings pitched, demonstrating that he could be trusted as just a freshman.
A standout pitcher at the Berkeley Preparatory School, Boeckle pitched there for three seasons. Over 48 career innings, he posted a sparkling 2.04 ERA, striking out 68 batters while only walking 39. He was ranked as a top 50 righthanded pitcher in the state of Florida by Perfect Game.
