Zack Smolen

Bio

Zack Smolen is the Lightning's Communications Intern, in his first season with the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Prior to his time in Leesburg, Zack worked up his broadcasting chops at his alma mater Ithaca College and in his native state of New Jersey.

At Ithaca, Smolen called play-by-play action for the school's baseball and men's & women's basketball teams, hosted a weekly magazine show covering Cornell hockey on the school's TV station and co-hosted a weekly sports talk radio show. 

After graduating in December of 2018 with a degree in Television and Radio Communications, Zack joined the New Jersey Nationals baseball organization as their Director of Broadcasting, covering four of their teams and calling over 70 games in 2019.

He also previously worked as a member of the Sussex County Miners broadcast team, was a contributing writer to 12up.com and called various hockey games throughout Northern New Jersey.
