Tim Layden #23

Tim Layden is the pitching coach at East Ridge High School.  Tim is a former head coach at Montverde Academy.  He played college baseball at Duke where he was a first baseman and left handed pitcher in their weekend rotation.  He also earned Freshman All American honors and was 1^st Team All ACC his junior year.  He played one summer for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League.  He was drafted twice in the MLB draft.  The first time was out of high school in 2001 in the 16^th round by the Rays.  He decided to go to college.  He was then drafted again after his junior year at Duke in the 6^th round by the Cubs as a pitcher.  He spent 6 years in pro ball making it to Double A with the Cubs.
