The Leesburg Lightning (18-18-1) found no success at the plate and struggled in the field as the fell to the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (18-16-1) in six innings after being run-ruled 16-2 on Thursday night.
Winter Park plated four in the first inning on a single and double for a 4-0 lead.
Kevin Lambert was the first run for Leesburg as he knocked a double down the left field line and was plated by Jay Prather to cut into the Dawgs lead 4-1. Winter Park extended their lead in the third with a single and the fourth after a three-run home run put them up 7-1.
Lightning starter Austin Wood went four innings with 10 hits, four earned runs and four strikeouts. Daniel Pierce replaced him for 1.1 innings of work and had five hits with four runs and one strikeout.
Benjamin Berggren entered in the sixth and made no outs with two hits, three runs and two walks.
A triple, double and series of singles put the Dawgs up 15-1 in the sixth. Dominic Jeancola took over for Berggren and helped Leesburg out of the seven-run inning with a strikeout and putout.
An error plated the last Dawg in the seventh for a 16-1 score.
Lambert reached again in the bottom of the seventh on an error that would plate the last Bolt for a final score of 16-2.
Jeancola finished with 1.2 innings, three hits, one run and two strikeouts.
Leesburg hosts Altamonte on Friday, July 27, at Pat Thomas Stadium with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
