Lightning Beat Squeeze in Five Innings, 3-1

LEESBURG, Fla. -- The Leesburg Lightning (15-17) and Winter Garden Squeeze (4-26-1) were scheduled for their third doubleheader in as many days after being spoiled by the weather in previous meetings. The weather reared its head again, as the Lightning and Squeeze were only able to get a single game completed.

GAME ONE

The Squeeze drew first blood in game one. Alex Del Valle (West Virginia Wesleyan) got the scoring underway with a double to left field that scored Cale Jones (Webber International). The run gave the Squeeze a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Winter Garden clung to the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth. After Nick Lewis (Valdosta State) reached on an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error, Cage Cox (Valdosta State) singled him home to knot the score up at 1-1.

In the fifth inning, the last inning that was played, Stephen Wilmer (East Carolina) scored on an error and the Lightning grabbed a 2-1 lead. Tanner Clark (North Florida) later scored on a wild pitch and the Lightning extended its advantage 3-1.

The game went into a lightning delay and the first game was officially called after the necessary five innings were completed. The Lightning took a second straight game against the Squeeze, 3-1.

GAME TWO

Game two was cancelled due to rain and lightning.

Jaxon Peebles (Alabama)
