Lightning introduce new pitching coach

Leesburg Lightning Head Coach, Rich Billings, has announced the addition of Josh Holt to the Lightning coaching staff. Holt, the first ever Leesburg Lightning Head Coach (2007), will return as the pitching coach for the summer of 2016. In his only season as the Lightning skipper Holt led the team to its first ever Florida League Championship and went on to be named the 2007 Florida League Coach of the Year.

Holt began his coaching career as an assistant at Florida Tech before becoming the pitching coach at Lake-Sumter State College under current head coach, Rich Billings. He helped lead LSSC to its first appearance in the FCSAA State Tournament in 2011. Holt became the head coach at LSSC in 2013 and led the Lakehawks for the next three seasons before stepping down after the 2015 campaign.

Holt and Billings have deep ties to the Leesburg baseball community as they both played at Leesburg High School, graduating in 2001. Holt then went on to become a 4-year starter at Flagler College where he would be named to the Flagler College Baseball All-Century Team as a first basemen.
